Impact/Relevancy -
This ballad originated from the pastoral comedy called “As you like it”. This ballad has a deeper meaning within it and is written as an extended metaphor comparing one’s life with a theatre act. We see this throughout the ballad with examples including: “And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages,” (lines 4-5 stanza 1). This suggests to the reader that an individual throughout the course of their life has many roles to play, and Shakespeare has used the main 7 parts of life: the helpless infant, the whining schoolboy, the emotional lover, the devoted soldier, the wise judge, and the old, capable man. This poem correlates to real life as we all go through these stages of life and that life can be easily compared to a performance as each person is given their own unique act to play (their life) that all plays into one big act (the world).
Credits to Joshua Rozario for combined work on the project.

Very Good Analysis on such a strong poem 👍👍
I remember this I was about to ask VIv and Gabe if I could post this but I guess you beat me to it xD
Hey Shaz
Great analysis and definitely helpful as shakespeare's poems are definitely complex
Also you could create another post if you wish going in depth with the bold lines
